3 Welding Supplies for Welding Art Projects

Many welders are supplementing their income by moving into the world of welding art. Welding art takes on many forms, but it can be a lucrative endeavor if you enjoy creating things with metal scraps and your welding techniques. Before you get started, there are a few welding supplies you will need. Here are three of the main supplies to consider. Keep in mind that you should already have your basic welding equipment, such as your helmet and other tools.

Welding Machine

One of the first pieces of equipment you will need to buy is a suitable welding machine. You need to consider several factors before purchasing this piece of welding equipment. The first is your space. You will need to consider the space you will be working in, how much storage there is and how much room there is to move around. Once you have decided on the size of welding machine you will need, you need to decide what kind of welding you will be doing. Keep in mind that the most common form of welding machines are arc welders, though machines that allow you to do mig welding are also available.

Welding Magnets

Welding magnets are used in many welding applications, but they can be especially helpful for welding art. The magnets can be used to hold pieces of metal in place, especially at 90-degree angles. As the magnets hold the metal in place, you can weld the metal together, forming the arc you want for the project. You will need several of these magnets on hand to create various metal art designs and angles. Keep in mind that four magnets are necessary for a simple picture frame design.

Metal File

One of the smaller but more valuable pieces of equipment you will need is a metal file. Metal files will be used throughout your welding art project to help smooth down edges and polish the final art piece. You can find metal files in several shapes and sizes at most welding supply stores and warehouses. As you develop the size and scope of your welding art projects, you can move to a larger variety of file sizes and shapes.

These are just a few of the basic welding supplies you may want to consider for your welding art projects. As you develop the type of projects you want to work on, you will find yourself expanding into other supplies and equipment. If you are unsure about any of the equipment or welding supplies you may be considering, contact a local welding and industrial supply store, like Burnback Welding Equip Services, for pricing and information related to your welding art needs.

About Me

Industrial Supplies and Other Stuff

Hello, my name is Damian and on this blog, I will be discussing a topic which perhaps doesn't seem that sexy. The topic is industrial supplies and other stuff like equipment procurement. You are probably wondering how an 18-year-old got so interested in this subject. A lot of other people think I am strange and that I should be out chasing girls or something. Well, I got into this subject when I had to complete a college project on a local business. I ended up spending an entire summer hanging out at the local industrial plant. I learnt so much about the industry that I decided to start this blog. I hope you like it.
